o Sony Ericsson said on Tuesday it will focus more on Cell phone’s with Google’s Android OS and will pack them applications on this platform.
ü Samsung, BigFlix launch video-on-Demand Service:
o Samsung and Movie renting firm BigFlix on Tuesday Launched a video-on-demand application, My Movies, offering free video content for the first 2,000 hours.
o My Movie will be available with Samsung Galaxy S, S II and Galaxy Tab 750 offering consumers full length feature films, trailers, TV shows and Music Videos up to first 2000 hours during the 1st phase of its launch from BigFlix.
ü PepsiCo Relaunches Duke’s Drinks in Mumbai:
o Pepsi Said its Re-launching the Duke’s range of beverages in Mumbai seven years after stopping its sales, and intends to take it across India depending on Market Response.
ü India Opens Own Buddh Circuit for Grand Prix Season:
o The Buddh International Circuit was unveiled on Tuesday amid much fanfare ahead of the widely-anticipated inaugural Indian Grand Prix and was described as “one of the best in the world” by the country’s 1st F1 driver Narain karthikeyan.
ü Sahara Must Refund Rs 24K Cr to Investors:
o The Securities Appellate Tribunal upheld a regulatory order directing the Sahara Group to Refund Rs 24,000 Cr, an amount equivalent to deposits growth last fiscal at the country’s 2nd biggest lender ICICI Bank, for violating Securities Issues.
o Sahara Said it will appeal in the Supreme Court against the Order.
ü Patni Computer July-September Quarter Net Dips 37.5% :
o The profit fell to Rs.90.2 Cr for the quarter ended Sept 30 as compared to Rs.144 Cr in the corresponding last year, but the decline was less than analysts’ expectations.
o Patni saw revenue grow 4.5% sequentially to Rs 914.3 Cr and 7.6% year-on-year.
ü Lemann Dethrones Kings in Beer to Burgers:
o The Burger King hamburger chain made a dramatic decision in August, It dethroned the King – the Mascot who had danced through its advertising in various guises for more than 50 Years.
ü Harley-Davidson falls after cheaper bikes cut into Margin:
o The biggest US motorcycle maker, fell as much as 8.9% after profit margins fell with increased sales of lower-priced models and limited availability of pricier bikes.
o 3rd quarter gross margin narrowed to 33.7% from 34.9% a year ago.
ü The huge addition of hotel rooms to prepare for an impending boom has had an impact on the occupancy in existing hotels in some of the fast growing cities, but experts say that this is a temporary crisis that hoteliers will tide over.
ü Telecom Tribunal TDSAT on Tuesday directed Bharti Airtel to pay 50% of the Rs. 50 Cr penalty imposed by the telecom ministry in the matter of alleged violation of license terms and conditions by the private operator for issuing bulk mobile connections.
ü HCL Technologies, India’s 5th largest s/w exporter , missed revenue expectations but crossed the $1-bn mark in quarterly sales for the July to September period.
ü Hero Moto Corp, India’s largest 2-wheeler maker, clocked a better than expected 19.3% rise in the quarterly net profit driven by record sales , and said it is confident of concerns over rising inflation and fuel costs.
ü Jaguar plans to assemble two more Models in India, which will increase its competitiveness in the fast growing domestic luxury automotive market.
